Treasurer’s Report

Account Balances, Income & Expenditures YTD as of July 31, 2016:

The total balances in the checking and money market accounts are up by $58.75, bringing the total to $72,169.97.  Income exceeded Expenditures by $58.75 in July.  Membership income is up $20 from where it was in July of last year. Bookstore sales are up $85.88 from where they were in July of last year. The Friends of the Library made $48 from the Art Mingle book sales held at Higher Grounds Coffee Shop in cooperation with the Art Alliance of Idyllwild. Unrestricted income was $1,133.60, which is $140.98 more than this month last year.  Unrestricted expenditures were $1,074.85, which is $594.97 more than this month last year.  Year to date, expenditures exceeded Income by $6,738.74

Year to date expenditures as of July 31, 2016:

Duffy Hudson presentation for Friends Annual Meeting, SRP Anime program, Constant Contact email software, Katya Williamson stipend, end panel accessories, Serving with a Purpose Volunteer Conference, earbuds for library patrons, Summer Reading Programming and Supplies, The Wacko Show, end panel accessories for the non-fiction stacks, letterhead and envelopes, Logan Creighton (Amazing Grace presentation), Penelope Engard presentations, book club books, children’s supplies, lilac maintenance, Explore Idyllwild Map, 100 Friends tote bags, postage, three 1/8th page ads in the Town Crier, monthly digital Nook subscriptions (The Los Angeles Times, The New York Times, and USA Today).  Additionally, The Friends of the Library made a payment for the NewsBank service in the amount of $6,974.52. This is a service that will digitize past issues of the Town Crier to make them available to the public through the library.

Membership Report

The Friends of the Library welcome everyone to join our non-profit, tax-exempt group that tries to make the Idyllwild Library become a richer experience for the entire community.  We will have a fascinating enactment of Harry Houdini by actor Duffy Hudson on Saturday, October 1st, at 2:00 p.m., following a short annual meeting.  This will be at the charming Rainbow Inn.  We hope you will come!  Refreshments will be served.

Welcome to our Life Member Carol Mendoza, and welcome back to our renewing members Trudy Adler and family, Suzanne Avalon, the Michael F. Boyer family, Kathleen Bryson, Nobuko Christensen, Jennifer Gee, Karin and Richard Greenwood, Mary and John Kracha, Ileana Lee, Thelma Lucjak, Barbara and Dave Pelham, Raphael and Joseph Plunkett, and Gay Reeves.  We also thank the Plunketts and the Boyers for their donations.  You all help make the wonderful library programs possible and keep those shelves filled with new items.

Book Store Report

Our Labor Day Weekend sale will be on Saturday, September 3, from 10 am to 3 pm.  Weather permitting, we’ll have our tables set up outside on the sidewalk.  We’ll have a wide selection of fiction and nonfiction, and all items will be 25 cents!  You can also shop at our bookstore inside the library, which will be fully stocked at our regular low prices.  We hope to see you there!
